Sophie Bess

I was raised on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Queensland, and moved to Melbourne at the beginning of 2025 to continue my performance training at Transit Dance, where I am currently studying a Diploma of Professional Dance. I continued my journey in the arts because I’m happiest when I’m on stage, performing, story telling and connecting with an audience! Over the years, I have loved being a part of a variety of dance shows and experiences that have allowed me to grow as a performer and build my stage experience. One of my highlights including performing as an ensemble member and featured ballet dancer in A Chorus Line in 2024 (Coastal Theatre Collective). Music has always been a big part of my life, whether its through dance, theatre or musical instruments. Along with my dance training, I studied the flute for 10 years and played in a symphonic band, giving me a strong appreciation for musicality and rhythm, and also the way that music can tell a story. I’m a performer who loves to try new things and collaborate with new, like-minded people. I am passionate about storytelling and creating performances that make people feel something. Since moving to Melbourne, I have been excited to learn, grow and continue to work hard for my place in the performing arts industry!
