Joe Cook

I have been dancing for as long as I can remember. From the very beginning I felt at home on the stage. The lights, the music and the storytelling through movement all just made sense to me. I have been incredibly lucky to train at May Downs School of Dance under the guidance of Rennie Anne Martini, and now to continue my training with Thomas Lacey. They have shaped me not only as a performer, but as a person, teaching me discipline, creativity and respect for the craft. I have loved every part of the journey, from concerts and competitions to exam work. One of the greatest honours of my life was performing for the Governor-General of Australia. It was a moment that reminded me why I work so hard and how much I value the opportunities I have been given. Beyond dance, I am deeply passionate about film, directing and screenwriting. I love being behind the camera just as much as being in front of it. Storytelling is what drives me, whether that is through movement or through film. I have always been told I am an old soul. The truth is, I have simply always known what I want. From the time I was little, this has been my path. My determination and passion come from loving what I do and wanting to create work that truly means something.
